#YP2024 Think Big, Have Fun and Go Far!
Our Y NSW Youth Parliament is run by young people, for young people.
The program is designed, implemented, and supported by a group of volunteers aged 18 years and over. The Taskforce (Taskies) are the lifeblood of Youth Parliament.
At the Y, we are open to everyone’s skillset, background and experiences and we would love for you to be a part of the Y NSW Youth Parliament family!
As a Taskie you can gain experience in program development and facilitation. We also have portfolios that include leadership, recreation and parliamentary training which are all provided.
So, if you have a passion for helping young people reach their full potential, this opportunity is for you.
Register your interest to be a Taskie!
As a note: If you would like this opportunity to count as a volunteering opportunity with either university, TAFE or your workplace, please contact the Youth Parliament Coordinator at youthparliament@ymcansw.org.au.

Can I have more information about becoming a Volunteer and the roles available?
Can this volunteering count as my practical hours for my studies/work experience or Duke of Edinburgh?
I am currently juggling both work and study. Can you be flexible my schedule?
Yes, we recognise that our volunteers have other commitments outside of the Y. We will work with you and be flexible with volunteer meeting times to best suit your schedule.
However, we require our volunteers to be available during in-person Training and Residential Camps (in the April and July school holidays). As such, we will roster our volunteers on during these camps.
If you are selected to be a volunteer Youth Parliament Taskforce member, please let us know your availability, including any changes to your situation, as soon as possible.
Do I need to have any parliamentary knowledge for this Parliament manager role?
I understand that I will be assigned to a particular portfolio/focus area. Can I help out other portfolios?
During camps, you will be assigned to a committee of young people while working in partnership with Parliament and Education officers.
Yes, there may be occasions when you are called to help assist other portfolios when needed.
I want this volunteer opportunity to also double as a social and networking opportunity. Is this the case?
If I am not successful in my application as a Portfolio Manager can I still be an Officer?
