We are still here for young people

So you’ve found yourself at the Y. We believe in the power of inspired young people and in 2020, in the midst of COVID-19, staying inspired can be hard; it also couldn’t be more important.

Since January life has been flipped upside down. Government, business, organisations, families and individuals have all had change the way we go about our daily lives. Some of us have lost friends or family, some of us have lost homes, most of us have lost jobs and many of us have at least once, and understandably, lost the plot. Coronavirus is impacting young Aussies as collective more than any other age group, and at the Y, we believe young people deserve a voice in the issues that impact them.

Young people in Australia are experiencing some of the most significant immediate and long-term impacts of COVID-19, on our lives, our education, our jobs and our and future potential.

To help us help you through COVID-19, the Y led a national survey of close to 300 young people aged 13-29. Here are some of the results:

Using these and other insights we collected from you, the Y will create resources and information for young people informed by your voices. We hope that the live streams, the info sessions, podcasts, Q&As and explainers that we will share here fill a gap, and help you feel not only a bit better, but inspired, optimistic and enabled to be your best self despite the odds.

We want to thank all the young people who shared your insights with us. Stay tuned to #YWeAreHere online and across our social channels for the content you asked for and remember, your local Y is still here for young people.

Reach out to your local association or hit us up on Facebook or Instagram to tell us how you’re feeling and how we can help.
