The Tea Gardens Swimming Pool is set to be officially opened this weekend by the Y NSW, just in time for the summer season.
Closed since early 2020 just before the pandemic took hold, the Y NSW in partnership with MidCoast Council will officially reopen the facility as a supervised swim centre for the 2021/22 season.
The Tea Gardens Swimming Pool comprises a six-lane 25m x 17m main pool ranging in depth from 1m to 1.5m. There is also a 6m x 4m toddler pool, a playground and barbecue facilities.
The Y NSW Executive Leader – Business Delivery and Support Brooke Atkins said the organisation was thrilled to be able to reopen the pool to the general public just as the weather was set to warm up.
“We are extremely excited to take over management of Tea Gardens Swimming Pool, which we know will make a difference to the lives of children and adults in the area,” she said.
“We’ll be providing a supervised service at Tea Gardens, similar to the services we currently offer in Taree, Forster and Wingham. We look forward to welcoming the community back to the centre.”
The opening of the centre coincides with this year’s local government elections on 4 December. To celebrate, democracy sausages, a jumping castle and free entry and swimming access will be on offer for the community to enjoy.
“We are pleased to see this partnership with the Y NSW come together for the communities of Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest,” MidCoast Council Executive Manager of Community Spaces Daniel Aldridge said.
“This partnership provides some great outcomes for our communities who are able to access supervised services and the benefits of a Y membership at their local pool.”
