Important Announcement

Last Updated: 5 January 2022

The Y NSW is carefully monitoring and managing the reopening our recreation centres and youth & community services in line with the Government Roadmap to COVID recovery. We reopened our centres in October, following the easing of restrictions in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

With the widespread infection rates currently impacting Australia, we would like to advise our customers that – from time to time – we will need to close our centres. Closing our centres will be in response to the following:

  • Instances of COVID-19 infection on site that result in the Y being advised our employees are close contacts and need to isolate.
  • If our team members are infected with COVID-19, or are exhibiting symptoms, and need to isolate and recover.

The Y NSW prioritises the health and safety of the community, and of our employees, with respect to COVID-19 but also providing water safe environments for people to swim and sufficient educators for our vacation care and outside school hours care services.

The swiftly changing nature of the Omicron variant and high case numbers of COVID-19 will mean that we will need to close our centres quickly and without notice so that we take necessary and responsible actions. We thank our members, customers and partners in advance for their understanding and patience as we manage through this very challenging time.

We will communicate with our members, customers and Y families in the following ways:

  • Recreation, aquatic and fitness centres: please check your local centre’s Facebook page for updates.
  • Vacation Care: the Y team will communicate with families via email.

You will be greeted at our centres with big smiles and a message for us all to be kind – to ourselves, to each other and to our health and wellbeing as we reconnect with our community.

We are thrilled to welcome everyone back to the Y and thank our loyal members and customers for their ongoing support. It’s been a long winter of lockdown, and we’ve missed seeing you all. You will be greeted at our centres with big smiles and a message for us all to be kind – to ourselves, to each other and to our health and wellbeing as we reconnect with our community. We look forward to welcoming you back!
