The Y NSW has been teaching children to swim for over 50 years across NSW. With classes available for all ages and abilities, from six months onwards, there’s a perfect class for your child.

Types of Swimming Lessons Offered by the Y NSW
At the Y, we believe all Australians need the skills to stay safe on our waterways. Progress through our swimming lesson levels as you gain confidence and develop skills.
Aqua Babies (6 months+)
Introduces babies and toddlers to the water in a fun, safe environment, building confidence and basic skills like floating and kicking.
Tadpole, Goldfish & Flying Fish (3 years+)
More advanced technique work, including freestyle and backstroke, plus growing water safety awareness.
Octopus, Sardine, Salmon, Tuna, Dolphin & Shark (5 years+)
Confident, safe swimming in a range of situations, from stroke technique to survival skills like what to do if caught in a rip.

What to Bring
- Children aged three and under must wear a swim nappy at all times in the water
- Swimming goggles and caps are optional
- Parents must remain within the centre during the lesson
- Children six years and under must be within arm’s reach of a parent or guardian; patrons aged 14 and under must be actively supervised by a responsible adult at all times
