03 Mar 2020 - Media ReleasesRecreation

The community facility owned by the ACT Government and located at Stromlo Forest Park will include an 8-lane 50 metre lap and competition pool, a program pool, gym, leisure pool, slide, toddlers’ pool, splash park, café and crèche.

The successful tender bid solidifies the position of the Y NSW as a leader in recreational facility management, with three other ACT Government owned facilities proudly managed by the Y.

“The Y NSW is thrilled to have been awarded the opportunity to deliver our fitness and aquatic expertise for such an impressive centre,” CEO of the Y, Susannah Le Bron said.

“This contract is a continuation of our strong partnership with the ACT Government at the Canberra Olympic Pool, Gungahlin Leisure Centre and Lakeside Leisure Centre and we are looking forward to providing even more opportunities for health, wellness and community connection for the great people of the Territory.”

Area Manager Mathew Pole said the Y will offer flexible membership options.

“We’re thrilled to increase the Y’s footprint in the Territory to service the communities of Weston Creek, Woden and Molonglo,” he said.

“The new centre will employ up to 100 staff when fully-operational, bolstering local employment opportunities.

“We will also be offering membership options with access across our other three facilities in the ACT to make sure whenever you are in the Territory, you have access to incredible facilities and programming.”

The centre is expected to open to the public mid-year. Stay tuned to www.ymcansw.org.au for updates.
