Gungahlin Leisure Centre Program Pool to close for maintenance

03 May 2022 -

The 25-metre program pool at Gungahlin Leisure Centre will close over winter from 16 May due to routine pool maintenance.

The closure of the 25-metre pool will not impact any other areas of the leisure centre.

For the duration of the closure period, all aquatic memberships, Learn to Swim enrolments and family memberships will automatically be suspended and these customers will not be charged.

As all fitness areas are unaffected, fitness memberships remain active.

Alternative pool options

During this time, all Gungahlin members are welcome to use their membership to access the Y's other facilities in the ACT (Stromlo Leisure Centre, Lakeside Leisure Centre and Canberra Olympic Pool). Please show your Gungahlin membership card to reception on arrival. Learn to Swim classes cannot be transferred to other centres.

We understand this is an inconvenience to pool users and appreciate your patience while the pool is closed.

Updates on how this work is progressing will be available here on our website.

FAQs

Routine maintenance work on the program pool is due at the end of 2022. To reduce disruption to the centre later in the year the program pool will be closed from 16 May over winter to conduct this work. The 50-metre pool tiling will continue when this work is complete.

Which parts of the centre will be affected?

The aquatics area will be closed from 16 May while these works are carried out.

However, our fitness facilities will remain open to customers.

What will happen to my membership?

For the duration of the closure period, all aquatic memberships, Learn to Swim enrolments and family memberships will automatically be suspended and these customers will not be charged.

As fitness areas will not be affected, fitness memberships will remain active.

Customers with fitness memberships that include pool access and aqua aerobics can choose to suspend their membership by notifying centre staff no later than COB on Thursday 5 May.

Can I access the Y’s other aquatic facilities in the ACT?

Yes. All Gungahlin members are welcome to use their membership to access Stromlo Leisure Centre, Lakeside Leisure Centre or Canberra Olympic Pool in the ACT. Please show your Gungahlin membership card to reception on arrival.

Please note Learn to Swim lessons cannot be transferred to other sites. However, your child can still access the Y’s other aquatic facilities for recreational swimming.

When will the program pool and 50m pool reopen?

A reopening date will be confirmed once works on both pools are completed.
