News Update: The Y Penrith is moving to a new home!

We are thrilled to announce the new home for the Y Penrith will be at 62/72 Batt Street, Jamisontown!

Our big move will take place on the 30th of June and we are so excited to be able to have a brand new space for our members and staff to call home! While we work on the final details for our big move, here is what you can expect :

  • A state of the art Gymnastics facility
  • A half multipurpose court for sports and recreation
  • Two multipurpose rooms for programs, classes and community use
  • A brand new-space to host birthday parties
  • A modern style reception and foyer

General Information FAQs  

Is the Y Penrith closing? 

No – we're not closing. We're moving to a brand-new, purpose-built facility just a few minutes away to continue serving the Penrith community for many more years. 

What is the address of the new location? 

Our new home will be located at 62/72 Batt Street, Jamisontown. 

When does the new location open? 

The new facility will open on Monday 30 June 2025 at 9:00am. 

Will there be any downtime during the move? 

Yes. We will be closed from Wednesday 25 June to Sunday 29 June while we move equipment and prepare the new space. Classes will not run during this period.

Programs & Services 

What happens to my child’s gymnastics classes during the closure? 

All gymnastics classes will be suspended from Wednesday 25 June to Sunday 29 June. No charges will apply for this period. 

Will my child’s class time or day change? 

No. All current class days and times will remain the same. 

Are the same coaches continuing at the new venue? 

Yes. Our current coaching team is moving with us, and we’ll also be welcoming some new faces. 

Are new programs or spaces being introduced? 

Yes! As well as our fantastic gymnastic space, the new facility includes: 

  • A multipurpose half-court 
  • Two multipurpose rooms for community use 
  • A dedicated birthday party space 
  • A modern reception and foyer 

Will the air-conditioning be improved at the new site? 

Yes. The new facility has brand-new, fully functioning air-conditioning to ensure the comfort of all our families and athletes.

Safety, Arrival and Pick-Up Procedures 

What should I do when I arrive for classes in the new facility? 

To support a safe and smooth transition: 

  • Accompany your child inside for the first few visits to help them navigate the space 
  • Wait with your child in the foyer until called into class 
  • Collect your child from the same foyer area – children will not be permitted to exit without a parent or guardian 
  • Pick-up and drop-off procedures will be reviewed over time and communicated directly to families. We appreciate your cooperation with this while we all settle into our new space.  

How do I support safe carpark use? 

  • Arrive early to find parking 
  • Follow carpark signage and traffic flow 
  • Use pedestrian crossings and walkways 
  • Respect Disability Parking and No Parking zones 
  • Exit the carpark by turning left to keep traffic flowing

 

Parking & Accessibility 

Will there be enough parking at the new facility? 
Yes. The site has on-site parking spaces. Additional options include: 

  • On-street parking along Batt Street 
  • Jamison Park carpark 
  • Neighbouring business precincts after hours 

 Is there a pedestrian crossing? 

Yes. There is a designated crossing for safe pedestrian access. It is marked in Yellow throughout the precinct.  

Will there be a kiss and drop zone? 
We are working towards a safe kiss and drop zone in the future. In the meantime, please park and walk your child in and out of the facility. 

Is the venue wheelchair accessible? 
Yes. There are accessible parking bays, an accessible entrance, and bathroom facilities.

Enrolments & Billing 

Will billing be affected? 
No. Our regular Direct Debit dates will continue as normal. Any suspended classes will simply not be charged for these lessons.  

Will I be charged for cancelled classes during the move? 
No. You will not be charged for the closure period. All billing will be pro-rated for the upcoming Direct Debits on Friday 13th & 27th June.  

How can I book classes or register for new programs? 
Bookings can be made via the Y Gymnastics App or online at: 
www.ymcansw.org.au/centres/penrith-ymca
