Bennelong Sports Centre: West Ryde now has a new sporting home.

West Ryde now has a new home of sport. Opening on 11 May, Bennelong Sports Centre transforms the former Marsden High School site into one of the largest netball and indoor sports precincts in NSW.

Featuring 33 courts, four indoor multipurpose courts, 29 outdoor netball courts, a gym, fitness room and kiosk, there is something for everyone. Whether it's netball, basketball, futsal, badminton or pickleball, Bennelong Sports Centre can cater to it.

It also comes at the right time, with a significant increase in demand for sport in Ryde and a fast growing population that's putting pressure on existing sporting infrastructure.

The Y NSW has been part of the Ryde community for 15 years and operating Bennelong Sports Centre on behalf of the NSW Department of Education is the next step in that commitment.

"As an organisation that's been proudly serving Ryde for 15 years, we know it's growing quickly, which is why we're pleased to expand our services to meet the real need for more accessible spaces for people to be healthy and connected," said Rob Kennaugh, CEO of the Y NSW. "At the Y, we're responding to that demand and creating more opportunities for people to get involved in a way that works for them."

A New Home for Netball

Netball is one of the fastest growing sports in the state, and Bennelong Sports Centre is the perfect place to anchor it. The Y NSW will work closely with the Eastwood Ryde Netball Association, who will play a key role in activating the courts and growing netball participation at the centre.

"Eastwood Ryde Netball Association is thrilled to join forces with the Y NSW at the new Bennelong Sports Centre," said Karen Waud, President of Eastwood Ryde Netball Association. "This venue will be a wonderful new hub for community connection and a much-needed home for netball in the area. We look forward to welcoming local families, players and supporters and working with the Y to create a space full of energy, connection and community spirit."

For players like Rachel from the North Epping Rangers, it's personal. "Having a new space to play, train and be together as a netball community is going to be so special. It feels like a fresh new chapter for local players, and I think it's going to bring so much energy and opportunity for young people like me."
