Prior to COVID-19 restrictions impacting our operations, we had previously planned for significant upgrade works at our centre in Blayney. These upgrade works were always planned to commence in October and run for approximately three months with staggered closures of specific areas. The key components of upgrading the centre is the replacement of the roof, which requires a significant amount of construction work on site and will be very reliant on good weather (which is why we’re saying approximately three months for the project). The works are vital to providing the community with a high-quality leisure centre.
We have outlined the key information about accessing the centre in the coming months, and how this will impact access to the centre and billing arrangements for members of the Y.
The below table will be regularly updated with adjusted dates of opening and closures as the project progresses.
Intermittent closures planned
For ease of reference, the Y NSW has outlined the anticipated timing of closure for different areas of CentrePoint over the summer. The Y has been advised of these timeframes by our construction partners, however, the times are indicative and very dependent on weather and any further restrictions that may apply to construction works due to COVID-19.
We will update our customers by SMS and social media if the timeframes do change significantly.
Fitness
We appreciate your support and understanding as we adapt our fitness areas during the upgrade works. The Y is planning carefully to ensure there will always be a fitness space kitted out for our members, so you are still able to work out.
Billing will continue on the regular cycle for our Fitness Members. If you wish to discuss your account, or make changes to your account, please contact the Y Centrepoint Team.
Aquatics
Our pools might be closed, however, we will be regularly posting to our social media channels to keep our Learn to Swim students and squad superstars ready for action this summer.
How will this impact fees?
- For Y Aquatics members, all membership direct debits will remain on pause. There is nothing you need to do.
- Customers with full centre memberships have already had their memberships reduced to the ‘fitness only rate’. This will continue for the period the aquatics area is closed. There is nothing you need to do.
- All payments from customers signed up with Aquatics Memberships, Learn to Swim and Squads will remain paused for the duration of the closure. For our Learn to Swim Direct Debit customers, you will not be billed for the closure period however your place in your class is still secure for when lessons resume in January 2022. There is nothing they need to do.
- Multi-Visit passes and upfront membership expiry dates will be extended by the total amount of days of the closure.
How will we communicate with you?
We will ensure we communicate with our valued customers at CenterPoint as we undertake this important upgrade work. You will hear from the Y NSW via social media and email. We will provide regular updates on how services will be impacted, any change in timing and what that will mean for access and fees.
We’re working COVIDSafe
In addition to progressing with the upgrade of CentrePoint, we are also managing the centre with strict adherence to COVID-19 restrictions and Public Health Orders. We will work to current restrictions, managing physical distancing, mandatory mask wearing on site and restricting class sizes as required.

The Y NSW is excited to be making these vital upgrades to CentrePoint to ensure the community of Blayney can enjoy exercising and swimming at an outstanding centre well into the future.
