Welcome to the Banksia Room

The Banksia Room is a vibrant, engaging and confidence-building environment designed for children aged 3–5 years. At this stage, children are developing strong social skills, independence, problem-solving abilities, and a growing curiosity about the world. Our educators provide thoughtful guidance, rich learning experiences and warm relationships that support each child’s readiness for school and lifelong learning. 

Daily Routine :

Children in the Banksia Room follow a predictable, supportive routine that helps them feel secure and confident throughout the day. 

  1. Arrival & morning settling 
  2. Indoor/outdoor learning experiences 
  3. Group time, literacy & numeracy foundations 
  4. Meals, rest & quiet activities 
  5. Afternoon exploration, projects & creative play 

Routines are flexible and responsive to individual needs while supporting growing independence. 

Learning Program:

The Banksia Room learning program is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and supports children’s development across all domains. 

  1. School readiness skills 
  2. Early literacy & numeracy 
  3. Social and emotional development 
  4. Creative arts, music & movement 
  5. STEM exploration 

Children learn through play, inquiry, collaboration and meaningful interactions with educators and peers. 

What to Bring Each Day:

To support your child’s comfort and participation, please bring:  

  1. Spare labelled clothing 
  2. Water bottle 
  3. Comfort items if needed 
  4. Weather appropriate clothing 

All belongings should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. 

Room Communication:

We value strong, respectful partnerships with families. 

  1. Educators are available for brief conversations during arrival and departure. 
  2. All weekly updates, photos, routines, and learning stories are shared through the OWNA App. 
  3. Important reminders or notices will be communicated through the app or email. 

Sleep and Rest :

Children in the Banksia Room are supported with a calm rest period each day.

  1. Rest times are flexible and responsive to individual needs. 
  2. Children who do not sleep are offered quiet, relaxing activities. 

Meals and Nutrition :

Meals are provided according to our centre's Sample Menu and nutritional guidelines. 

  1. Morning Tea 
  2. Breakfast 
  3. Lunch 
  4. Afternoon Tea 
  5. Late Snack 

Dietary needs, allergies, and cultural requirements are always respected and carefully managed. 

Health and Safety Practices:

Your child’s wellbeing is our highest priority. 

  1. Hygiene routines 
  2. Safe supervision 
  3. Illness and exclusion guidelines 
  4. Sun safety practices 

Educators follow all regulatory requirements to ensure a safe, supportive and high-quality environment.
