It's every parent's nightmare - how to keep the kids entertained and the holidays stress-free. We've taken some of the hard work out of coming up with ways to make sure your kids aren’t climbing the walls by the end of week one these school holidays with these five ideas!
1. Bust boredom with YMCA Vacation Care
Children aged 5-12 years need not be bored these school holidays thanks to YMCA Vacation Care. Children will enjoy making new friends and getting involved in a wide-range of activities and excursions. Our Vacation Care program is also Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Government Rebate approved. 2. Spend quality time together
When was the last time your kids spent quality time with their dad?
YMCA Father and Kids Camps are weekends away where your kids can share fun outdoor experiences and spend quality time with their dad. Whether they have a traditional dad, stepdad, a stay-at-home dad or a non-custodial dad, this camp is the perfect place for them to create lifelong memories together. The camp does not involve "self-help" sessions - it's just a fun holiday and a chance for dads to reconnect with their kids. Dads and their kids will enjoy sharing outdoor activities including:
- rock climbing
- flying fox

3. Keep them active and entertained
Keep them active and entertained with YMCA Holiday Programs. Various YMCA leisure centres across NSW will host a range of day programs catering for every age, interest and ability. Activities include cooking classes, team sports, Easter hat parades and parties. Click here to find your local YMCA and discover which holiday programs they will be running.
4. Encourage them to create friendships and memories
Camp is all about challenge, experience, independence, making memories and lifelong friends. It's often the first time away for many children and is a perfect opportunity for them to grow, learn and think for themselves.
YMCA Camp Yarramundi and Sydney Olympic Park Lodge will be hosting holiday camps appropriate for children aged 5-15 years. Each camp offers a range of fantastic activities, ranging from ropes courses, climbing, giant swing, archery, craft, cooking plus more! Your child will also enjoy the opportunity to meet other kids from across the state and create friendships and memories to last a lifetime. There are options for day-only campers and residential programs. Click here to find out more.
5. Splash out at your local pool
Bring the family along to enjoy a day at one of our many leisure centres. Our heated pools are an ideal way to entertain the kids for hours, as well as make sure they don’t forget the important swimming skills they learnt over summer. Some of our centres also run holiday intensive swimming lessons programs. Contact your local leisure centre to find out what’s on offer.Back to blog
