Australian Pool Lifeguard Program

 

 

Lifeguard. Swimming teacher. Your career pathway starts here. 

Kick start your career in the aquatics industry with YMCA NSW's Australian Lifeguard Program. This 12 month traineeship is the perfect foot in the door for school leavers or those that love being by the pool. Learn the ropes. Build your confidence. Get a qualification. 

What's in it for you:

  • Four days a week paid work with on the job training.
  • One day per week tuition at our YMCA Institute of Education and Training (RTO code: 3979).
  • Certificate III in Aquatics and Community Recreation (SIS31015)
    This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.
  • Team building and leadership skills development.

You'll love being part of the YMCA NSW team. And there's real opportunity for you to work your way into senior roles within the organisation. 

Once you're finished, you'll have the opportunity to continue with YMCA NSW in part-time, full-time or casual roles.

And it's not all hard slog. As part of the program you'll also:

  • spend a day at Camp Yarramundi
  • try some African drumming
  • compete in life saving sports activities

  • network with senior management.

Unique Student Identifier (USI) 

  • A Unique Student Identifier or USI is made up of 10 numbers and letters
  • Gives you access to an account that contains your completed training records and results from 1 January 2015 onwards
  • Will help you provide evidence of your studies when you apply for a job or undertake further study.

If you are a student studying nationally-recognised training at a registered training organisation like YMCA Institute of Education and Training (RTO code: 3979), you will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) from 1 January 2015. The USI will give you ongoing access to your records and results, so they are always available if you choose to enrol in further training or need to show a future employer.

YMCA Institute of Education and Training (RTO code: 3979) is the approved training provider for the NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled funding scheme. The qualification - Certificate III in Aquatics and Community Recreation (SIS31015) which the institute offers is subsidised by the NSW Government.
