48 week year, 12 week blocks - What does this mean?

48 week year, 12 week blocks

What does this mean for your student?

At the YMCA we run a 48 week year commencing at the end of January and finishing at the end of December. This time frame is then broken into blocks of 12 weeks. What does this mean for your student?

  • Lessons run throughout the school holidays with no breaks
  • Reinforced skill acquisition with no down time from lessons
  • Maintained stamina and strength
  • Ensured 33 week progression

Why does YMCA not offer make-up lessons?
We believe make up lessons are not a true indication of a student’s regular class with a different teacher and children and can often be more detrimental than beneficial.

What happens if my child is sick?
With the provision of a doctor’s certificate to certify absence we can credit or suspend student lessons for a maximum of eight weeks.

What if we wish to go on holidays?
Each student is entitled to a four week suspension per year in the event of a planned holiday. This can be applied at reception or via email with a minimum of two week’s notice.
