The Y NSW is pumped to reopen doors at the Manning and Great Lakes Aquatic Leisure Centres from Wednesday July 15 creating opportunities for youth and communities to connect, stay active and reimagine health and wellness goals in the new normal.
Both facilities will open from July 15 for gym, group fitness, personal training, small group training, sports hall and lap swimming with important new changes in place to help members and staff stay safe while staying fit. Learn to Swim and Squads will recommence on July 20.
“We are opening with the support of MidCoast Council in what are still uncertain times and want to reassure our patrons that these facilities will be following all NSW and Federal health advice with extensive social distancing and hygiene measures in place,” said Y NSW CEO Susannah Le Bron.
“These centres are places to enjoy and stay fit but more than that, they are vital hubs for community connection.
“We are very proud of our staff for their commitment to keeping these great community assets maintained throughout closure and are incredibly appreciative of the community’s patience throughout our preparations.”
The Y and partners MidCoast Council have installed a range of COVID-Safe updates for the safety our members and staff, including sneeze screens, social distancing floor markings, more hand sanitiser stations, increased cleaning and hygiene signage. All staff are receiving additional COVID-Safe training and access to the centre will be limited. As per NSW Government restrictions, the following restrictions will apply:
- Health Club (restrictions vary per space)
- Small Group Training (capped at 8 people)
- Group Fitness classes (capped at 20 people)
- Casual Sports Hall Use (capped to 20 people)
Memberships will restart on opening day, however online bookings will be required for all group fitness classes, squads and all casual customer visits. The booking system will be launched on Monday, July 13 and accessed here.
At this stage the Crèche, Gymnastics and Basketball remain on pause and are likely to recommence in October.
