At YMCA NSW, it is our responsibility to ensure all members of your family enjoy a safe environment that is free from danger and mistreatment.
Our camping sites operate under a strict set of guidelines, which aim to safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults from harm and abuse.
YMCA NSW is committed to safeguarding of children and young people. We are accredited by Australian Childhood Foundation and participate in the Safeguarding Children Program accreditation scheme. This essential accreditation is dependent on a three-yearly audit, the completion of an annual review of the Safeguarding Children Program and the submission of a review report to the Australian Childhood Foundation.
YMCA NSW is also a member of the NSW Early Childhood Environmental Education Network (ECEEN). We see this as an essential connection that allows us to build and maintain our service quality through integrating environmentally-sustainable education with particular reference to the National Quality Framework.
The YMCA NSW has established Standards of Conduct for YMCA NSW staff members and clients that clearly state what is expected of both parties when they are at a Y-operated space or event. You can read these guidelines – and all about our safety policies in our Client Handbook.
All YMCA NSW staff and volunteers undergo extensive screening before they are employed and must hold current Working with Children Check (NSW) and Working with Vulnerable People (ACT) clearance. Our staff members receive regular training in child protection and first aid and their work performance is reviewed regularly.
