Choose your own adventure, and help more people to be healthier, happier and more connected.
We value all types of experience, skills and knowledge. Many of our volunteer roles do not require specific qualifications or skills, while others require a person with talents in a particular area. We work with each individual volunteer to find a role that suits them.
You can choose to volunteer for any space of time, including once-off events, short term placements, or even ongoing roles that may continue for years.
Some of the volunteering opportunities that we offer include:
- Youth & Government youth taskforce
- Community Visitors Scheme
- Breakfast Club servers
- Swim squad leaders
- Event support
- Work experience in fitness, aquatics, children’s services, and outdoor education
- And much more!
Please note: Volunteer positions may not be available at all times.
Work Experience at YMCA NSW
Each year we host many people who complete their student work experience hours or vocational placements. These are formal work experience arrangements that are part of an education or training course. Some of the courses that we commonly provide work experience for include:
- AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
- Swim Australia Teacher
- Certificate III or IV in Fitness
- High School work experience
- Duke of Edinburgh
Work experience is a great way for students to gain important skills and to help them transition successfully from study to work.
Just like other volunteer roles, work experience is unpaid. To apply click here.
